The Dreaming Butterfly is an odd fey creature that takes the appearance of a blue-and-white butterfly. Suffused with the vibrant energies of the deepest Feywild and inherently linked to the Plane of Dreams, it is a psychic powerhouse. Fortunately, the creature is normally of a peaceful and scholarly bent, given to studying ancient tomes and enjoying the performances of skilled bards. Friendly adventurers can negotiate with it, though as with all fey, the prices it asks in exchange for its information may be deceptive or off-kilter.
A dreaming butterfly generally has a thrall or two around to serve its needs, and to protect it should combat erupt. In a fight, it will use its abilities to devastating effect, usually opening with its Dreaming Nightmare power if its enemies are clustered together, or its Dreaming Whispers if they are spread out. It relies on the combination of its Dreaming Caress and aura to incapacitate attackers who close to melee range. If pressed, it will retreat into the Feywild to heal. If bloodied a second time (or still bloodied following its Jaunt), it will usually attempt to retreat.
